First Annual Walk-a-thon Raises $6,000

On Saturday, March 15, 2008, the Joshua David Gardner Memorial Scholarship Endowment held its first annual walk-a-thon at Ida Belle Young Park in Montgomery AL. More than 70 participants took part in the 3K event, including members of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and members of Air University’s School of Advanced Air and Space Studies at Maxwell Air Force Base.

Musical entertainment was provided by the Tuskegee University Men’s Ensemble Glee Club. The family-centered event was held to raise funds for the Endowment Scholarship Fund.

Next year’s walk-a-thon will be in March at a location in the metropolitan Washington DC area.
